The Shakespeare Express runs on Summer Sundays only - provisionally 12 Jul to 6 Sep 2015.
All information shown on these pages relates to 2014 season and is a provisional guide only - subject to confirmation for the 2015 season.

Throughout the rest of the year we run steam train excursions to various popular destinations and we also organise open weekends at our base, Tyseley Loocomotive Works offering shuttle rides, locos in steam, demonstrations etc.

Travel North Through MORE Picturesque Countryside....

.... between Stratford-upon-Avon and Birmingham the train usually takes a different route via Claverdon and Lapworth through more delightful countryside.

 

An immaculate steam locomotive ....

.... will pull the train of Vintage Trains traditional rail carriages, all restored authentically to their former glory. Standard class features the comfort of seats at a table for four with large picture windows.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Traditional English fayre....

.... is available served at your seat in Premier Dining in our ex-BR Mk 1 Pullman Cars. Depending on the time of day, either a Full English breakfast, a freshly cooked 3-course Roast Luncheon with all the trimmings or that most English institution High Tea will be served. We now offer a traditional Afternoon Tea as an alternative to High Tea. A wide selection of wines, soft drinks and alcoholic beverages are also available. Seating in Premier Dining is available at tables for two and four persons.

 

Through the carriage windows....

.... you will see an ever changing landscape, from Birmingham's fascinating industrial past to Warwickshire's beautiful countryside with its working farms, stylish villages and stations, plus glimpses of waterways and other features that make up Shakespeare's County.

 

A TRUE Mainline Steam Express Experience...

.... as our train travels along a section of the GWR London to Birmingham mainline. The steam locomotive often works up to its top permitted speed of 60mph. Some engines are permitted to go to 75mph.
