Shakespeare Express Concessionary Fares

The Shakespeare Express round trip is about 50 miles of mainline steam. VTS members benefit fromconcessionary fares and can use these benefits as many times as they like. There is a choice of 2 round trips from Birmingham & 1 round trip from Stratford or Henley possible every Sunday from July to mid-September.

Members concessionary fares are available to all members of the Vintage Trains Society holding a current valid membership card.

Depending upon your membership category, you could save your annual subscription fee after just 2 or 3 return trips!

Adult members fare for a return ticket on the Shakespeare Express is just £10 - these rates also apply to Senior members.

Partner members (Husband & Wife) the benefit is available to both individuals included in the "Partner" membership.

Family members (2 Adults & 2 Children) the benefit is available to all members of the "Family" membership.

Junior member fare for a return ticket on the Shakespeare Express is just £5.

* This offer is open to members for travel on the Shakespeare Express during 2009. Members may use this concession for purchase of tickets for their own travel on the Shakespeare Express as many times as they want. Each return journey needs a separate ticket. The tickets purchased at the members discounted fare must be for the members' own use and proof of membership will be required when purchasing them and on the trains.

This concession applies only to the regular summer Sunday day time service trains operating between July & September. Where additional special Shakespeare Express trains are operated and/or celebrity engines are being used, then there may be no concessions at all on those particular trains. This will usually feature in a special train notice stating that "no concessions" are applicable.

This offer is made by kind permission of the Birmingham Railway Museum Trust and is reviewed annually.

Members Newsletter & Magazine

These are published from time to time. They include news and reports about developments at Tyseley Locomotive Works and Vintage Trains. Members are encouraged to write articles about railway experiences both past and present. The editors aim to provide balanced publications which is interesting for both young and old. In particular, the publications are a means of "keeping in touch" for members who live far distant from Tyseley and in such far away places as Australia.
